Uxbridge High School

Over the course of two trips, the English department took 165 Year 11 students to Poetry Live. This event allows students to engage with poets from their literature poetry anthology, listen to them speak about their poems and be able to ask questions. Among the poets present were Carol Ann Duffy, the current poet laureate, Simon Armitage and John Agard.

Students were able to discover more about the inspiration and interpretation of their set poems and were particularly entertained by John Agard’s performance of two of his poems. This was a successful trip and the students who attended once again proved that, as a school, we have a cohort of young people to be proud of.
