UHS Students join visit by Prince Charles to The Royal Shakespeare Company
Students and a teacher from Uxbridge High School travelled to the Royal Shakespeare Company’s Stratford-upon-Avon home to meet HRH The Prince of Wales and the RSC’s President on 2 June. As part of the visit, HRH experienced the work of the RSC’s Learning and Performance Network, which stretches throughout the country and involves over 400,000 students and their teachers. Each school works with the RSC and their local theatre to create the best experience of Shakespeare in the classroom and in performance for young people.
The students travelled to Stratford-upon-Avon from as far as Middlesbrough in the North East and Cornwall in the South West. Twelve schools showcased a brief extract from their work on one of Shakespeare’s plays before meeting HRH to talk about their experience of Shakespeare in the classroom.
Vishal Joshi, Kaitlyn Paton and Curriculum Leader for Drama, Nicola Walmsley, represented Uxbridge High School, who have been working on A Winter’s Tale, Othello and a Midsummer Night’s Dream.
