Talented young cricketer

The school was delighted to hear about the success in cricket being enjoyed by one of its Year 11 students, Bilal Mohammed.

During the summer Bilal took part in the ECB Under 15 National Finals held at Kibworth CC, Leicestershire, where he represented Surrey County Cricket Club. His team reached the final and Bilal played a vital role making a match winning 64. Bilal has just heard that he has been shortlisted in the last three for the “Amateur Player of the Year” award at the Asian Cricket Awards being held at Lord’s on 7 October.

Cricket at Uxbridge High school has progressed significantly over the last few years with all year groups competing both locally and regionally and strong links with both Uxbridge CC and Hayes CC. Ben Isherwood, Curriculum Leader for Boys’ PE, said “I am delighted for Bilal on his success and that he has been recognised in this way. I hope he can inspire young people into sport and wish him the best of luck.”

Bilal said “I feel honoured to have been nominated for this award. It’s a good feeling when I’m representing UHS and hopefully I can bring the trophy to the school.”
