This Week’s Vlog: Gratitude, Human Rights and Creativity in Action

Celebrating Gratitude Across the School

This week, Ms Seymour shares how students have been taking part in our termly tradition of writing thank-you cards for teachers and associate staff. These thoughtful messages highlight the appreciation our young people have for the adults who support them every day. Staff have also been recognising one another through our annual Staff Recognition programme, which helps maintain the positive, collaborative culture that makes Uxbridge High School such a rewarding place to work and learn.

Attendance and End-of-Term Rewards

As we approach the end of the term, Ms Seymour encourages families to continue supporting strong attendance, especially for students who may be on track for 100 per cent. Full-attendance students will receive an invitation to our end-of-term rewards draw, alongside those who have shown significant improvements in their attendance this term.

This Week’s Assembly Theme: Human Rights

Mr Hunt delivered this week’s assembly on Human Rights Day, encouraging students to reflect on the rights they have and the challenges faced by children and young people around the world. The message focused on empathy, fairness and the importance of using their voice to create positive change. Students were asked to think about their responsibility in promoting equality and supporting others in their community and beyond.

Spotlight on Music and the Winter Showcase

The vlog was filmed in one of our modern music classrooms, where Year 11 students are developing their coursework compositions. With the Winter Showcase taking place next week, Ms Seymour highlights the incredible creativity and talent in our school. The event, currently sold out, will feature a range of performances from across the year groups. Students in the music department also share how the arts inspire them and offer pathways into further study, including GCSE music.

Looking Ahead

As we head into the final days of this golden term, Ms Seymour thanks families and the wider school community for their ongoing support. She looks forward to ending the term on a positive note and celebrating the achievements of our students.
