Uxbridge High School

SMSC in Physical Education

Within the PE curriculum area extra-curricular clubs are well attended and include football, basketball, tennis, table tennis, badminton, rugby, netball, Futsal, trampolining and fitness. We also run the Duke of Edinburgh award (Year 12) , PE mentoring (Year 12) and external coaches are provided for basketball, football, tennis, trampolining, table tennis, rugby, cricket.

Brentford FC partnership – The school has now 14 academy players who are integrated into the school in years 7-11. PE has been responsible for liaising with the club and providing support for those through our Sport and Education Co-ordinator. We have completed the BTEC Level 3 diploma with the apprentice scholars (U18), with all of those finishing the course gaining an award. All of the apprentices went on to gain professional contracts (90% of these at Brentford FC).

Competitive sport - The PE curriculum area is heavily involved in both local and county level competitive sport and last year we competed in over 80 fixtures, competitions or tournaments. This is something we are extremely proud of and consider it an area of strength. Students get to experience competition outside of the classroom context (SMSC).
