FREE SCHOOL MEALS DURING COVID-19 – INFORMATION FOR PARENTS
Prior to the relaunch of the national FSM voucher scheme through Edenred, parents have been sent £25 Tesco e-vouchers per fortnight – all parents should therefore have received 2 vouchers per student (provided they were eligible from or before the beginning of term). If you have not received these vouchers, please contact the Finance Team.
National FSM Scheme - Edenred
The government has relaunched the Edenred system. This is a national FSM voucher scheme that was in use during the first lockdown. All students who would normally receive a free school meal whilst in school, will have access to supermarket vouchers for the duration of the period of school closure. This is provided at £15 per week – normally sent as £30 per fortnight. Please note that vouchers for the half term period will be provided by the council instead.
The first set of vouchers through this scheme will be sent to parents at the end of January – parents are therefore asked to look out for an email from Edenred from either email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org. If you have not received an email with an e-code, please search your email for both email addresses and check your junk folder in the first instance.
The school’s Finance Team uploads details of FSM eligibility to Edenred, along with the main contact’s email address. The system then emails the main contact with an e-code. This e-code can be redeemed for an e-voucher for use at a number of supermarkets. These e-vouchers contain a barcode which can be used from your phone, or can be printed, and then used for payment in-store. Please ensure that you redeem your e-code at home before going to the store.
Parents are able to mix and match between supermarkets, e.g. redeem £10 for Tesco and £15 for Morrisons. The following supermarkets are currently available as part of the scheme:
|McColl’s (including RS McColl’s and Martin’s)|
Please click here for a step-by-step guide on how to download your e-voucher and answers to frequently asked questions.
Note that for parents with no email address, these are being redeemed by the Finance Team and sent in the post. Due to the school partial closure and current mail delays, this means that postal e-vouchers may experience delays. If you are receiving postal vouchers, and would prefer a different supermarket for subsequent e-vouchers, please let the Finance Team.
If you experience issues with redeeming e-codes or using vouchers, please email Edenred on email@example.com. If you have not received an email or emails from Edenred with your e-code then please contact the Finance Team – however please be aware that e-codes will only be sent to the main contact’s email address already on the school system (see below on updating your email address). Your patience and understanding is appreciated as we work through your queries.
The Finance Team can be contacted by email on firstname.lastname@example.org. If you do not have access to email, then please leave a clear voice message on 01895 234 060 Ext 4, stating clearly your name, the name of your child/children, your query and your contact number, and a member of the team will get back to you as soon as possible.
If your child is not currently in receipt of free school meals but your circumstances have changed, please check eligibility here. If this indicates that you may now be eligible for free school meals please complete the application form on the school website here. By completing this form, even if you are not currently eligible, both yourself and the school will be notified if you were to become eligible at a later date. Be careful to ensure the details including name and address, are entered as they appear on your benefits statement.
The government has also made changes to the eligibility criteria which grants temporary access to free school meals to some children of groups who have no recourse to public funds and to a subset of failed asylum seekers. Please click here to view the guidance. If you feel that your child now qualifies under this criteria, please complete the application form below and email to the school on email@example.com, along with the appropriate electronic documentation as evidence.
We have identified a small group of students who are not currently eligible for free schools meals, but we are providing a similar meal support during this difficult time. These are also in the form of £25 Tesco e-vouchers per fortnight, and will continue to be sent by the Finance Team throughout the lockdown period, unless you let us know that you are no longer in need of such support.
Hillingdon council are also offering a Covid Winter Grant scheme for families in the local area that are facing financial hardship as a direct result of the impact of Covid-19. This funding will help with the cost of food and utility bills, if you qualify. Please contact the council directly through their website at https://www.hillingdon.gov.uk/winter-grant or by calling 01895 558200. Supermarket vouchers during the February half term will also be provided by Hillingdon council – please contact Hillingdon with any queries related to vouchers during the school holidays including Christmas and February half term.
