Royal Shakespeare Company LPN Year 3 Festival ‘The Dream’

The Andrew Lloyd Webber Theatre in Arts Educational School was the venue for day two of our RSC LPN Year 3 Festival, ‘The Dream.’

On Tuesday 22nd March the UHS cast of ‘The Dream’ and the casts from four other schools: Haydon School; Hayes Park Primary School; Vyners School and Whitehall Primary School, performed in this prolific and respected performing arts college. All 104 performers rehearsed and warmed up on the stage at Arts Ed, a magnificent modern professional theatre. At 6pm, we welcomed a large audience of guests to see the festival. ‘The Dream’ was an edited version of ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ and each school performed two scenes and the costumes linked the scenes and characters colourfully.

The performances from each school were excellent, captivated the audience and made everyone laugh. Some standout performances included: Arian Amiri as Bottom; Kingsley De Costa as Oberon and Gurleen Arora as Hermia, and many more performers were mentioned as exceptional by the audience and the theatre professionals that were present.

The festival provided our talented students a chance to work with professionals from the Royal Shakespeare Company, Intermission Theatre and Arts Educational Schools. They had a professional stage manager, theatre technician and photographer with them throughout and performed on a beautiful stage in front of nearly 200 audience members.

It was an extremely valuable experience for all and each student’s work made UHS PROUD.
