Principal's Weekly Update

We are thrilled to bring you the latest updates from our vibrant school environment, where innovation meets tradition, and every student is encouraged to explore their potential to the fullest.

This week, we had the pleasure of featuring Mr. Luke Heslin, a distinguished member of our history department who also spearheads our careers program. Mr. Heslin shared invaluable insights during our assembly sessions, aimed at enlightening our students from Year 7 through Year 10 about the myriad opportunities Uxbridge High School has to offer.

A Journey Through History to Inspire Future Paths

Our assemblies began with a tribute to our illustrious alumni, who once sat where our students do today. We discussed the varied paths our graduates have taken, from prestigious positions at PwC and the Civil Service to noble professions in teaching and firefighting. This retrospective aimed to inspire our students with real-life success stories, reinforcing the belief that "if they can see it, they can be it."

Highlighting the Gold Standard of Education

Mr. Heslin emphasized the privilege of attending Uxbridge High School, known for its gold standard in education. He encouraged students to think about the future opportunities available to them, hinting at upcoming events like the career fair. This event promises an impressive lineup of organizations, from the Ministry of Justice to the NHS and beyond, offering our students a glimpse into potential career paths.

Career Guidance Tailored to Our Students

In addition to group assemblies, we are committed to providing personalised career guidance. Our Year 9 and Year 12 students will benefit from one-on-one career guidance interviews, ensuring they are well-equipped to make informed decisions about their futures.

Democracy in Action: The Youth Elections

Amidst these career-focused discussions, our school is also a hub of democratic engagement. The ongoing youth elections in Hillington see one of our own, George from Year 12, running as a candidate. This election is a practical demonstration of democracy at work, offering our students a voice in their community and a chance to support their peers.

An Invitation to Year 9 Parents' Evening

Looking ahead, we are excited about the Year 9 parents' evening. This event will focus on subject options, helping our students and their families make choices that align with their interests and career aspirations. It’s a crucial step for our students, guiding them toward fulfilling and successful futures.

Preparing for Success: Exams and Beyond

As our Year 11 and Year 13 students prepare for their final exams, we extend our heartfelt thanks to our parents and guardians for their unwavering support. The dedication and preparation of our students are commendable, and we are confident that these efforts will culminate in success when the summer exams arrive.

A Heartfelt Thank You

In closing, we extend our deepest gratitude to our entire school community for your ongoing support. Your involvement is essential in maintaining the high standards of excellence at Uxbridge High School. Let’s continue to work together to ensure our students are equipped for success, both academically and in their future careers.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.
