Uxbridge High School

On Tuesday 22nd January, nine students from Year 7 attended the annual borough basketball tournament at Queensmead School in high spirits.

Following a number of training sessions, the boys were feeling confident, which came through in their first few games. The boys were drawn in Group B against four other schools but then then won all four of their group games to finish top of the group. This included a 12-0 win against Rosedale College and a 12-2 win against Vyners Scool.

The boys were the top scoring team in the tournament, with Charlie and Ifechi particularly dominant on the scoring charts. The semi-finals saw a match-up with the hosts Queensmead School, which was a tight contest. The game finished 2-2 and so overtime was needed. With a 'next score wins' rule in place, it was Queensmead who then won. The boys were disappointed that they couldn’t get to the final, but certainly did themselves and Uxbridge High School immensely PROUD!

The player of the tournament for an all-round brilliant display was Charlie P. Well done to Charlie and the whole team for a fantastic tournament
