Weekly Update 8/12/2023

Dear parents, carers and students,

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to update you on recent events and activities at our school. This week I'm thrilled to share the latest updates and achievements from Uxbridge High School.

Being Brilliant at the Basics:

As the days get colder and darker, we are encouraging our students to be brilliant at the basics. This involves adhering to our gold standard proud values consistently—being punctual, wearing the correct uniform, and having all the necessary equipment ready for lessons. By mastering these basics, our students create a conducive learning environment, allowing teachers to deliver exceptional lessons. Your support in reinforcing these values at home is greatly appreciated.

Assessment and Feedback:

Mr. Morgan recently participated in our Year 11 assembly, where assessments and feedback were discussed. Year 11 parents will receive more detailed information during the upcoming parents' evening. Assessment and feedback are integral to our students' growth, starting from Year 7 and continuing through to Year 11. Parents, we encourage you to engage with your students about their DPR (Daily Progress Report) and how they are receiving assessment and feedback in their lessons. This ongoing dialogue plays a crucial role in their academic journey.

Trips and Events:

Over the past weeks, our students have enjoyed various trips and events, from cultural outings to a charity football match. This festive season, we have our annual Festive Jumper Day on December 20th. Students and staff are invited to wear festive jumpers to raise funds for charity, providing a delightful end to the term.

Message from Mr Morgan:

Mr Morgan, the Head of Year 11's message is emphasizes on the importance of engaging with your child about their results, discussing their plans for the future and actively participating in conversations about revision and homework. The collaboration between parents, students, and teachers is key to ensuring our students achieve their best.

As we wrap up this week, let's continue to encourage our students to be brilliant at the basics. We appreciate your ongoing support, and we look forward to seeing you at the same time and place next week.

As always, I am grateful for your continued support. Stay tuned for more exciting updates, and until next week, have a wonderful weekend!

Take care,

Louisa Seymour
