Students from Years 7, 8 and 10 were invited to watch the musical ‘Matilda’ on the evening of Wednesday 1st March. The students, Mr Emery and Ms Das thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
The trip was organised as a rewards trip for excellent attendance to breakfast and after school reading clubs run by Ms Davis and Ms Das. The reading clubs are helping to improve the literacy, comprehension and inference skills of students, as well as encouraging them to develop a passion for reading.
Matilda was the perfect reward gift as Matilda herself builds confidence through the power of reading and knowledge: “So Matilda’s strong young mind continued to grow, nurtured by the voices of all those authors who had sent their books out into the world like ships on the sea.”
