Sixth Form
Welcome to Uxbridge High Sixth Form
The Sixth Form at Uxbridge High School has a strong reputation for being one of the most popular, high achieving and welcoming in the Uxbridge area. Many students choose to join from other institutions to take advantage of the high levels of support, wide range of courses and state-of-the-art facilities.
Building on the school’s outstanding success at GCSE level, an extensive range of A Level courses is on offer including Maths/Use of Maths, English Literature, Media Studies, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Business Studies, Design Technology, Information Technology, History, Geography, RE, Modern Foreign Languages, Art, Music, Drama, Performance Studies, Psychology, Sociology, Government and Politics and Textiles. All students have the opportunity to supplement their main courses with additional A Levels in Citizenship and/or Extended Project. A wide range of Level 3 Vocational BTEC courses are also available including Business Studies, Engineering, Finance, Science and Sports.
The school is fully inclusive and also provides a wide range of Level 2 courses to suit all students’ needs and aspirations. Recent additions to our Level 2 curriculum include Business, Travel and Tourism, Art and Design, Engineering and Drama. The school has also pioneered the extremely popular Diploma in Retail Business. This course includes a part time placement in the retail industry, this year at Heathrow Terminal 5 Complex.
The school is keen to add and develop enrichment courses to suit the needs and interests of students and this year a weekly lecture by visiting speakers has been popular. GCSE Photography, Young Enterprise Business Schemes and the Sports Leader Award have also run. Many students are keen to continue with the Duke of Edinburgh Award to Gold level.
Students enjoy a very strong support programme, each student working alongside a tutor on their own personal development. Sixth Formers enjoy the benefits of our special relationship with Brunel University and students who wish to go on to university are supported and encouraged. We now have a number of students who are applying for study at Oxford and Cambridge Universities.
The Sixth Form is now accommodated in a brand new state-of-the-art Sixth Form Centre, the Lancaster Building, which opened last year at a cost of £6million and provides outstanding teaching and private study facilities, excellent ICT facilities and a dedicated cafeteria for exclusive Sixth Form use.
Uxbridge High School Sixth Form continues to grow and the increased popularity is due not only to high levels of examination success, but also to it’s inclusive philosophy. It attracts, supports and develops students of all levels of ability who are committed to improving their job and life chances through study and personal development.
