Library

The library is open from 8.30am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday, at breaktime for all students and at lunchtime for selected year groups.

Staff may book the Library for whole classes or small groups of students and Sixth Form students may use the Library throughout the day for quiet study.

All members of the school are automatically members of the Library.  Students can borrow a total of two books for a period of up to two weeks.

Fines of 5p per day are charged on books returned late, up to a maximum of £1.

The Library operates a computerised issue and cataloguing system, Oliver. All resources are on the database and the system can be searched by title, author and subject.

The Library has an extensive collection of fiction books, including many new titles and the stock is constantly being updated. A recommended reading list is available.

Non-fiction resources are available for every subject from Key Stage 3 to A-Level and GNVQ.

The Daily Telegraph and Guardian are taken daily, The Uxbridge Gazette and TES are taken weekly and we subscribe to a selection of magazines.

The Library has networked computers with Internet access. Encarta Online is a good source of information and can be accessed easily.  The school Directory of E-Learning and a Library Websites Directory are available to help you.

The School’s Library Club is called Bookworms and meets once a week in the library for reading, challenges and competitions!.   Do come along and get involved.

Students are able to use the photocopier. A card costs £2 for 25 A4 copies.

The Library has a variety of information about further and higher education courses, as well as books and leaflets about all types of careers. Several careers programmes are available on the network computers.

Do come and use the Library, especially for homework.  We are continually updating our stock and widening our provision and we welcome suggestions. Visit us and see!
