Nike Training Club

Uxbridge High School has been successful in its bid to become an official Nike Training Club School, the only one of its kind in the borough.  Nike Training Club is an initiative designed to motivate girls to exercise, get excited about sport and increase their confidence.  Developed by Nike, the club was initially trialled in 14 schools and is now being rolled out to only 64 schools across the capital, with Uxbridge High School being one of the lucky few.  Each of the girls who attends the club on a regular basis receives an exclusive NTC      T-shirt, as well as other incentives, spot prizes and rewards throughout the programme.

Kate Gould, Girls’ PE Teacher at UHS and Nike Training Club Teacher, said “The programme is still in its early stages, but is already proving a huge hit with the girls.  We feel this is a great incentive for girls to become more involved in sport in this Olympic year.   The girls enjoy the exclusivity of the club and the rewards they get for all their hard work.  We had 47 girls attend last week’s club, which is a record here at Uxbridge High School.  I am sure that working closely with Nike, The National Schools Partnership and the school, this will continue to go from strength to strength”.

Nigel Clemens, Senior Vice Principal, said “This is an excellent opportunity for our students.  The project complements our numerous sporting activities in preparation for this summer’s Olympics”
